Gwenael joined Wendell Hull & Associates, Inc. (WHA) in 2002 and is the Test Facility Manager and Senior Flammability Scientist. He oversees the testing activities and coordinates the Standard Testing, Special Projects and Test Support Groups. Gwenael leads research and test development involving flammability and ignition studies of materials and components in oxygen and other oxidizers such as nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), and nitrous. Gwenael travels worldwide to conduct WHA Oxygen Hazard and Fire Risk Analyses, oxygen system audits, fire and failure investigations, and oxygen safety training. As an active member of American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), he currently chairs the G4.02 Recommended Practices Subcommittee and task groups: Revision of ASTM Standard G175 and Toxicity Analysis of Non-Metallic Material Combustion Products. He was also awarded first place in the 2008 ASTM Advantage Award Competition. Gwenael has been a United States delegate at meetings of the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Committee 121, Anesthetic and Respiratory Equipment, SC6, Medical Gas Systems.
During his postgraduate work, Gwenael was involved with research at NASA White Sands Test Facility, where he performed Promoted Combustion tests using an ultrasonic measurement system that he helped develop. He has also worked for Air Liquide in Paris, France, and for the University of Queensland in Australia as a Reduced Gravity Test Engineer, where he conducted experiments on board NASA's Reduced Gravity Test Aircraft based in Houston, Texas.
