New Mexico State University

Jared joined the WHA Special Projects Team in 2006 while an undergraduate co-op student at New Mexico State University.  He specializes in characterizing metals flammability in oxygen-enriched atmospheres with WHA's promoted combustion test chamber.  He also provides testing support for the pneumatic impact, oxygen index, auto-ignition temperature (AIT), mechanical impact, hydrostatic, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), and flow friction ignition test systems.

He works extensively with SolidWorks, a 3-D CAD software package, modeling and analyzing pressure systems using finite element and computational fluid dynamic analysis methods.  He also works on projects that require Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis to characterize materials in oxygen fires and other forensic and failure investigations.

Jared's graduate research program was a joint effort between WHA and New Mexico State University.  He was offered the opportunity to study in-depth oxygen fire problems in graduate school while remaining a part-time WHA employee.  His master's thesis focused on high-pressure compressible flow in narrow channels with application to an oxygen fire ignition mechanism known as flow-friction ignition.

Jared also spent two summers as an undergraduate working at the Holloman Air Force Base High Speed Test Track in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
